Mobile phone

As in the whole of Europe, you can use your mobile phone in the GSM/UMTS standard in Poland. This is possible thanks to the roaming service. You can also buy a (prepaid) SIM card of one of the Polish operators. The costs of making and receiving roaming voice calls via mobile phone are uniform for all subscribers of the European Union. However, this applies only to voice calls. If you are planning to use the mobile phone to connect to the Internet, check the cost rates of usingfor using the data packet transmission in roaming with your operator. If you buy a prepaid card of one of the Polish mobile operators, you can check the cost of using mobile internet at your operator’s outlet or website.

If during your stay in Poland for the duration of UEFA EURO 2012TM and you plan to connect to the Internet via your mobile phone, check the data packet transmission costs (which usually differ from those applying in your country) with your operator or consider using a prepaid SIM card of a Polish operator.

How to make a call?

When Dial the international country code number when calling mobile or landline numbers in your country prefix the number called with the international country code number. When calling telephone numbers in Poland they must be preceded with +48.

Coverage of mobile networks

Almost 99 percent of Polish Poland’s territory is covered by cellular networks (including all Host Cities). Despite the fact that all mobile network operators from have been preparing the best possible service for participants in the Championships for the past 3 years to prepare the best possible service participants in the Championships, the event short-term problems regarding the availability of services may occur during the eventshort-term problems with the availability of services. Problems with coverage or the availability of certain services (data transmission, MMS, etc.) may occur especially in the stadiums and in the fan zones where many fans and tourists will want to use their mobile phones at the same time. If such problems occur you can try to improve the availability of voice services by switching your phone to GSM mode. The Mmost UMTS/GSM phones have this option.

Remember the area code

When calling an abbreviated 5-digit number from a mobile phone (e.g. taxi numbers) precede it with the specific area code of the city and with the country code for Poland. The area codes of Host Cities are: Warszawa Warsaw - 22 Wroclław – 71, Poznanń – 61, Gdanńsk – 58. By calling landline or mobile number from a phone with international roaming active, precede it this with the country code for Poland, i.e. +48.

Remember that when flying – no matter if the flight is inside or outside Poland – you must have an ID document to present to the airport staff. To enter the Schengen territory, citizens of third countries must have a valid travel document and visa if required.
