Poland is a rapidly developing modern country located in central Europe. It borders with Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and Russia. From the north, the Baltic Sea washes the shores and the natural borders and the Tatra Mountains are to the south. Poland has a population of over 38 million, of whom 96 present declare Polish nationality. Most of them - 61 presently live in cities.
Poland belongs to many international organizations and communities. In addition to the UN, most important include NATO (since 1999) and the European Union (since 2004). Since December 2007 Poland became a part of the Schengen Zone, which allows citizens to travel within the area of 22 European countries without a passport. In 2011, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCT AD) considered Poland as the 6th country in the world to be the most attractive for investment.
Poland is known for such famous writers’ names as: Wislawa Szymborska, Stanislaw Lem, Ryszard Kapuscinski, Witkacy, Bruno Schulz, Witold Gombrowicz, Zbigniew Herbert and Slawomir Mrozek. Polish composers are also well known around the world such as: Frederic Chopin, Karol Szymanowski, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Henryk Wieniawski, and Stanislaw Moniuszko and contemporaries: Krzysztof Penderecki, Wojciech Kilar, Zbigniew Preisner, Krzysztof Komeda, and Witold Lutoslawski. The film world would not be the same if not for the work of directors, such as: Krzysztof Kieslowski, Roman Polanski, Andrzej Wajda, and Krzysztof Zanussi.
Although soccer is the national sport of Poles, its representatives are successful in other disciplines: in volleyball, handball, tennis, ski jumping and cross-country skiing or motorcycle speedway and Formula 1.

Remember that when flying – no matter if the flight is inside or outside Poland – you must have an ID document to present to the airport staff. To enter the Schengen territory, citizens of third countries must have a valid travel document and visa if required.
