Lech Walesa Gdansk Airport

The Gdansk airport is one of the four airports in the Host Cities UEFA EURO 2012™ in Poland. With numerous modernisation projects, including the runway, taxi ways and the construction of a new terminal, the passenger handling capacity of the airport during Euro 2012 will almost triple than before the investments were started.

The airport is located 10 km from the centre of Gdansk, 10 km from the centre of Sopot and 23 km from the centre of Gdynia. With the regular bus lines and special lines operated during the Tournament, you will easily reach the centre of Gdansk from where it is easy to get to the official fan zone and the stadium where four matches will be held in June 2012. The airport is located at a convenient transportation point – directly by the ring road and junction of two important national roads, including motorway A1 Gdansk - Toruń. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the centre of Gdansk by car or by taxi.

A special organisation plan at the airport will be implemented for the Tournament to support efficient and friendly services for the intensified fan traffic from all over Europe. Travellers will be offered additional assistance at dedicated information stands and by the city volunteers operating at the airport who will provide information on city transport, how to reach the city centre and the stadium, regional tourist attractions. Follow the Polish Guide – the closer to the Tournament, the more updated and organisational information will be made available.

The airport operates connections with the following cities in Europe:  Aarhus, Alicante, Barcelona, Bergen, Berlin, Birmingham, Bristol, Cork, Doncaster, Dortmund, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Edinburg, Eindhoven, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Göteborg, Hamburg, Helsinki, Cologne, Bonn, Copenhagen, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Malmo, Milan, Munich, Oslo, Paris, Poprad, Prague, Riga, Rome, Stavanger, Stockholm, Turku. From Gdansk you can fly directly to the two other Polish Host Cities:   Warsaw and Wrocław. Additionally there are flights to Kraków.  The current flight schedule is available at: www.airport.gdansk.pl.

During UEFA EURO 2012™ the Gdansk airport will be supported by one other airport. Certain charter, private and GA flights will be directed to the Airport in Bydgoszcz.
