Team Base Camp

What is a Team Base Camp?

A Team Base Camp is a place where the national team playing at UEFA EURO 2012TM will stay during the Tournament. Not every hotel could apply to be a Team Base Camp. The candidate facilities had to meet several requirements set forth by UEFA.

The hotels have to ensure a high standard - a minimum of 4 or 5 stars, provide a sufficient number of rooms and privacy and all support facilities such as a gym, massage rooms, relaxation area, conference rooms and the possibility of preparing meals. An equally important factor was the proximity of training centres that meet UEFA standards. The centre must have at least one training pitch with standard dimensions and provide the possibility of conducting open and closed training sessions.

Detailed information about selected Team Base Camp for all the teams to play at the Tournament will be known in early 2012, shortly after the UEFA EURO 2012TM Final Draw in Kiev.

Where will the players stay during the Championships?

More than one million visitors including fans, players, activists and sponsors will visit Poland in June and July 2012. Most of them will stay in Poland for more than one day. Developing an offer of Team Base Camps for European teams participating in UEFA EURO 2012TM was one of the most important elements of preparations for the Tournament.

Poland has proposed as many as 21 locations to UEFA from which the teams can select a facility that will best suit their needs. Suggested locations included hotels in Gdynia, Gniewino, Słupsk, Gdynia, Gdańsk, Ostróda, Lubawa, Kołobrzeg, Międzychód, Opalenica, Legionowo, Warsaw, Józefów near Otwock, Warka, Puławy, Kielce, Wrocław, Jelenia Góra, Tychy, Kraków, Wieliczka and in Władysławowo. Several teams have already decided where to stay during the time of the Championship where to prepare for the games.
